It presents a soil type in which gravel is predominant. With an extension of 1,170 ha divided by the Tinto river, for which reason the right bank belongs to the beginning of the Huelva mountain range. The climate is Mediterranean with maximum temperatures of 40ºC and minimums around -2ºC. The Tinto river is being studied scientifically for the importance of its particular ecosystem. Its reddish colour is due to the minerals of copper and zinc that it contains coming from the Riotinto mines from the times of the Phoenicians.
